Located on the south side of Phoenix’s iconic Camelback Mountain, the Dietz Residence is a modernized 5,200sf  slump block ranch style home that provides grand views of the mountain and surrounding desert context, without forfeiting privacy, or it’s ranch style heritage.  Departing from traditional ‘wall and hallway’ conventions, the house is organized by way of volumes or ‘boxes’ that separate one space from another.  The ‘boxes’ contain smaller program such as closets and bathrooms.  A large, north facing clerestory window dramatically brings the mountain into the great room.  Stacking sliders on both sides of this space serve to extend the living area into the outside.
