Welcome Diner-5-edit ck.jpg

Welcome Diner is a name with history in Garfield Historic District.  Despite its small size, the original 7 seat diner was a landmark destination in downtown Phoenix for decades.  For many, the diner is a taste of 'the way things used to be' - a community-born, humble, quaint neighborhood diner.  The new Welcome Diner has been redesigned and relocated two blocks south of the original diner, to the prominent intersection of 10th Street and Pierce known as “The Four Corners", and is approximately seven times larger than the original diner.  Preserving the general material palette and construction conventions of historic roadside diners, the new Welcome Diner is a simple white form sitting in a largely edible garden.
